Welcome to the Chesapeake East Calendar Guide
A Delmarva online and printed monthly events calendar magazine that people pick up and refer to all month long…
It is our goal to unite the three states of the Delmarva Peninsula; Delaware, the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the Eastern Shore of Virginia in addressing environmental & social issues along with promoting cross-shore eco-tourism, cultural events and community. Our extensive monthly calendar listings are free to area nonprofits, communities and arts organizations providing educational, heritage and cultural opportunities to residents and visitors to this region. The Delmarva Peninsula offers a treasure-trove of breathtaking vistas and outdoor activities. Our Races Section lists tri-athalons, bike rides, foot races, walks and swimming events for all levels of athlete. Special articles feature land or water based activities in regional parks, nature preserves, along the Chesapeake Bay or seaside at our many beaches. You can find seasonal fun in every season from Spring beach clean-ups with the OC Surf-riders to free summer concerts beach to bay, Autumn bike races like the Seagull century, outdoor Wine & Beer Festivals and in winter holiday parades, penguin swims and theater.
Delmarva’s many picturesque small towns are loaded with history, unique shopping, dining and personality. Many welcome visitors with monthly celebrations like “1st Fridays” where shops stay open late and the streets are filled with music, art and special treats. Farmers Market hours and locations are listed every month during season, and we encourage folks to “buy local” whenever possible to keep valuable dollars earned within our home communities. In keeping with an aware, inquisitive agenda, features like “Game On Challenge” or “Steal this Idea” offer out of the box ways to go green, live healthy or promote positive individual action. Monthly recipes, based in seasonal fare are always tasty to try. The year-round “Garden Warrior” gardening column is ripe with humor, good ideas and lessons learned. Our “Great Small Festivals with Big Ideas” articles spotlight just that, events put together by a dedicated few for the betterment of many, working to preserve historic structures, further environmental issues or celebrate lifestyle.
The “Ongoing” calendar lists meetings, and activities that continue year-round on a regular basis. Area art exhibits and openings maybe found in the “Exhibits” section.
Our focus on environment and forward thinking has resulted in many interesting articles on bay health, water quality, lifestyle impact, and regional scientific advances by area researchers.
The Delmarva Peninsula is home to many institutes of higher learning, colleges and Universities that bring diverse educational opportunities, events and people to our communities. Our demographic is educated professional people- both men & women from 20-75 that are motivated, enjoy the outdoors, are community minded and care about issues like the environment, pro-active health-issues and historic preservation.
Our mission mantra says it all:
small . green . local
Healthy communities nurture their environment, economy and residents.
It is our goal to nurture Delmarva and all the good things going on here with the monthly Calendar and useful articles that define every issue of the Chesapeake East Calendar Guide.
